Enabling is when your “help” can actually hurt someone. The concept is most often used related to addiction. It applies to many unhealthy behaviors, however, such an adult child living rent-free in a parent’s house, never saving money, spending it all on clothes and travel.

Stopping enabling someone you love can be easier said than done. It’s a struggle between compassion and the fear of watching them fall.

Thank you, Clyde, for keeping it real about enabling. We are glad you are here!
