The holidays come around year after year, and for many Deaf people from hearing families, the pain that comes with being left out is real, year after year.

Very few hearing families sign, so few that if you are a Deaf person from a hearing family and someone in your family actually signs, you are considered “lucky”.

It shouldn’t be luck that provides communication access to Deaf people in their own families.

Thank you, NuNu, for sharing what is an all too common and heartbreaking experience for many Deaf people during the holidays especially, but year-round in reality.
