“Dry drunk” doesn’t mean what you might think. It’s not a moral judgment or an insult. It’s not about going through early withdrawal, nor is it about the early stage of recovery from addiction.
In the field of addiction recovery, “dry drunk” is a specific term that refers to a person who does not drink or use drugs anymore, but who has not yet addressed any mental health issues.
