#1 Shoshannah Stern on her new award-winning film, storied career, and Gallaudet memories

In this interview, Shoshannah Stern, ’05, talks about her life as a groundbreaking Deaf creator. Her award-winning film, Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore, will screen on opening night of Deaf Way Film Festival, and she’ll be at the festival to have a conversation about the movie!

#2 Groundbreaking research brings DeafBlind adults and DeafBlind children together

Gallaudet is hosting a groundbreaking project that studies protactile! Deanna Gagne and Hayley Broadway, E-’05 & G-’18, are collecting data to understand what happens when DeafBlind adults use protactile to communicate with DeafBlind children.

#3 Maria Serra Pereda’s summer internship: digging for turtle eggs on the beach

Maria Serra Pereda spent her summer working with endangered turtles. Her internship with Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Florida gave her job experience, insight into her future career, and unforgettable memories.

#4 Deaf Way Film Festival celebrates growing deaf filmmaking community

Deaf Way Film Festival will feature 23 films, including 11 international productions. The festival builds on the proud history of deaf and hard of hearing filmmaking around the world.

#5 Alumni James Caverly and Andrew Morrill take students on a journey with new production

Gallaudet’s Performing Arts is hosting a year-long residency program led by alumni James Caverly, ’11, and Andrew Morrill, ’16. In the summer of 2026, the cohort of students will travel to France to perform their new show at the Clin d’Oeil Festival.
