DeafPlus refers to someone who is Deaf and living with other conditions or disabilities that affect their daily functioning. These can include cerebral palsy, autism, Down Syndrome, and any physical, intellectual, or emotional disabilities.
Life as a DeafPlus person may pose unique complexities, and parents of DeafPlus children face their own challenges. It can be overwhelming dealing with the system. Advocacy fatigue is a real thing.
Thank you, Teresa, for offering a parent’s perspective on what it’s like to raise a child who is DeafPlus.
