Regaining our ethical compass Holding the APA accountable, like its psychological counterpart that has similarly distorted ethics under political pressure, will be part of our regaining our ethical bearing. For now, we must recognize that suppressing discussion has not made a problem go away. There is a true medical need to which we must respond, and mental health professionals have a clear responsibility to society.
