Jeff Moreno, I agree Jeremiah 10:1-5 is mainly about idol-making. But verse 2 gives the principle: “Do not learn the way of the nations” and don’t fear “signs of the heavens.” Matthew 2 records astrologers visiting Jesus, but it doesn’t approve astrology or teach Dec 25 or Christmas customs. The New Testament still tells Christians to flee idolatry (1 Cor 10:14), avoid being taken captive by human tradition (Col 2:8), and keep worship clean (2 Cor 6:17). So the question isn’t “tree or no tree”—it’s whether a custom is rooted in the nations’ religion and traditions rather than Bible teaching.
