I’m sharing my reflections on the recent screening of the documentary Unmasking Deaf Education, held at the Maryland School for the Deaf just a couple of days ago. The producer, Carey M. Ballard, has a unique connection to my life — we were both featured in the film Autism Unveiled back in the early 2000s, when he was about eight years old and I was around twenty-eight.
In this video, I talk a bit about that shared history, my experience attending the screening, and my reaction to the documentary. The film includes subtitles and voice-over, making it accessible to a wide audience. While there is no official release date yet, I offer some constructive feedback on how the movie could be strengthened overall.
