Former FBI Director James Comey was indicted by the Department of Justice and President Trump celebrated it, calling him a “dirty cop.”

AP News said the indictment accuses Comey of lying to a Senate panel when he said he had not authorized anyone else at the FBI to be an anonymous source in news reports about a particular investigation. The DOJ believes Comey did authorize someone to be an anonymous source and they’ll have to show evidence in court.

Comey posted a video after his indictment and said his heart is broken for the Department of Justice and is innocent. He said let’s have a trial.

Now, there is concern that President Trump is using his power to push the Department of Justice to indict his political enemies. To be fair, Trump has been on the other end, being indicted in multiple cases in multiple states before he was re-elected.

It’ll be several months or even a year before we have a trial. One thing to look out for is whether more people who are perceived enemies of Trump faces indictments.
