Remind his vlog: Link "Search the prophecies of Isaiah, Behold, I cannot write them..." About A.D. 400–421. Link The traditional view is that all 66 chapters of the book of Isaiah were written by one man, Isaiah, possibly in two periods between 740 BC and c. 686 BC, separated by approximately 15 years. In the Book of Mormon refers 2 Nephi "Isaiah Chapter 1 to 66" about 588–545 B.C. Link The phrase "2 Nephi Isaiah chapter 1 to 66" refers to the inclusion of the entire biblical book of Isaiah in 2 Nephi within the Book of Mormon, from chapters 2 Nephi 12-27, encompassing Isaiah 2-14. Nephi, the author of 2 Nephi, quoted Isaiah extensively and introduced these chapters with commentary in 2 Nephi 25, providing keys to their understanding, according to sources like the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Book of Mormon also includes other selections from Isaiah, such as Isaiah 53 (in Mosiah 14) and Isaiah 54 (in 3 Nephi 22), but it does not contain the entire sixty-six chapters of the biblical book. Context in the Book of Mormon Nephi's Purpose: Nephi included Isaiah's prophecies in the Book of Mormon to testify of Jesus Christ and to provide his people with a greater understanding of the words of the prophets. Introduction: Nephi introduced these chapters by explaining that his people, due to their works of darkness, did not understand Isaiah, but that the words were plain to those "filled with the spirit of prophecy". Significance: The Lord singles out Isaiah as a great prophet, and Nephi's inclusion of his words is seen as a significant way to fulfill the Savior's commandment to study Isaiah's prophecies diligently. Key Isaiah Passages in the Book of Mormon Isaiah 2-14: Nephi quotes these chapters in 2 Nephi 12-24. Isaiah 53: This chapter, focusing on the Messiah and atonement, is quoted in Mosiah 14. Isaiah 54: This chapter is included in 3 Nephi 22. Why the Entirety of Isaiah is Not Included The Book of Mormon contains many important selections from Isaiah but not all 66 chapters. The Book of Mormon context suggests that the chapters included are those with themes relevant to Lehi's family and the Nephite people. Despite the Book of Mormon not containing all of Isaiah, Latter-day Saints are encouraged to study Isaiah in the Old Testament, especially the chapters not found in the Book of Mormon that speak of the Messiah and the Second Coming, such as Isaiah 58-66. What is in the sealed portion of the Book of Mormon? The sealed portion of the Book of Mormon's gold plates contains a revelation to the brother of Jared, which includes "all things from the foundation of the world unto the end thereof". This sacred record was not translated by Joseph Smith and remains sealed, to be revealed "in mine own due time" when "the Gentiles shall repent of their iniquity, and become clean before the Lord". What the sealed portion contains: The vision of the brother of Jared: This significant revelation describes the history and future of the world, from creation to its end. More complete revelations: It includes knowledge that was not fully translated or revealed in the other parts of the Book of Mormon. Why it is sealed: Divine command: Moroni was commanded by God to seal up the plates containing this vision, and Joseph Smith was then instructed not to translate them. Unbelieving world: The sealed portion is withheld because the world, specifically the Gentiles at the time of its potential revelation, is not yet ready to receive it due to their unbelief and iniquity. When it will be revealed: In God's own time: The sealed portion will be revealed "in mine own due time," meaning when the Lord determines it is appropriate. Conditioned on faith and repentance: It will not be revealed until people exercise faith, become sanctified, and repent of their sins.
