Many have assumed that Robinson Springs (present-day Millbrook), Alabama, was a separate location from Talladega, Alabama. In fact, both sites were part of the same founding effort for the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind. James A. Watterson, a Deaf man, was instrumental in advocating for the school’s establishment. Robinson Springs served as a temporary location.
