Today, we spotlight Richard "Smitty" Smith, Curriculum Support/Materials Development Coordinator at RIT/NTID.

For 46 years, Richard has played a pivotal role in shaping accessible learning experiences at RIT/NTID. As the curriculum support/materials development coordinator for the Department of ASL and Interpreting Education, he ensures that educational materials meet the diverse needs of students, collaborating with faculty to adapt curricula, design inclusive resources, and integrate innovative teaching tools. His commitment to accessibility and empowering both educators and learners have left an indelible mark on our community.

Smitty will officially retire on June 30, 2025, but his legacy of care, leadership, and dedication will continue to inspire us for years to come.
