Instead of Thanksgiving, it is a National Day of Mourning. Today, I am honoring Princess Makoata of Pamunkey Tribe, also known as Pocahontas.

Her direct descendant found the America’s first Deaf school program in Virginia. A few Deaf descendants are named here. Also, some of Deaf students are named here.
