“God also said to Moses, ‘Say this to the people of Israel, “Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you”: this is my name for ever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.’” Exodus 3:15 “I am Yahweh, that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to graven images.” Isaiah 42:8 The Hebrew Bible further acknowledges that Yahweh’s name is one and that Yahweh is only one since there is no other Yahweh: “Hear, O Israel: Yahweh our God is one Yahweh (Shema Yisrael Yahweh Eloheinu Yahweh Echad).” Deuteronomy 6:4 Here is an alternate way of rendering the Hebrew: “Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one.”
