We've been seeing more and more ASL on TV lately, but how do we make sure we get even MORE!? Submit your feedback to your TV providers frequently. This will help us continue our efforts to get more ASL on your TVs!

HOWARD: Hello! We're bringing back the Ask Howard Anything #AHA series! Today's question is: Why are we not seeing more American Sign Language (ASL) on TV? First, the law in the US requires closed captioning (CC). It does not require ASL on TV - this means only CC is required by law. We also have another law that require Governors, legislatures, states, and Federal (such as the US President) to provide ASL when delivering important information on TV. However, there is no law that requires the TV networks to show ASL. So, since the pandemic, we realized we need to change this. We're now working on a new bill to require TV networks to show ASL while broadcasting. Yes, I agree there needs to be more ASL on TV! Support us to push them for that requirement to provide ASL on TV! Thank you!]
