Curious #AboutTheNAD? We got you. We'll be re-sharing some tips from the NAD's Law and Advocacy Center -- what we do, who we advocate for, and some facts!

SEAN: The NAD is a small non-profit that serves all deaf and hard of hearing people in the U.S. It doesn't matter if they are a NAD member or not. In fact, there are 48 million deaf and hard of hearing people in the U.S.! We receive about 1,300 inquiries a year, which roughly means we get about 4-5 inquiries per working day. The NAD has 18 people who are either full/part-time employees or contractors… BUT we only have four litigators in the Law and Advocacy Center, and out of that four, only one focuses on legal intakes. The NAD’s four litigators are licensed in Maryland and New York. For cases that are in other states, we partner with another law firm. However, the NAD doesn’t only focus on litigation but also youth programs, self-advocacy, resources sharing, policy changes and more!
