Hello everyone!

I am Chris Haulmark, here at El Mariachi restaurant, running for Kansasâ€™s Third Congressional District.

I, too, am extremely worried about Hurricane Harvey.

Whoa!

What a disaster!

Such extreme flooding all over, from Beaumont to Port Arthur!

There are so many photos and videos on Twitter showing the devastation.

Naturally, I'm very concerned about the disabled victims in this area.

*Deep emotional breath*

The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies has a helpline available,

800-626-4959.

This is their voice number.

However, it can be a challenge for the Deaf to call that helpline during the disaster, since we rely on internet, electricity, and whether the cell signal for high-speed data is fast enough for videophone calls.

So our ability to voice call the helpline is limited by resource availability, so we the Deaf people tend to tell on other telecommunication platforms: Facebook, Twitter, and texting with fellow Deaf community members through the grapevine.

So I recommend calling the helpline when absolutely necessary.
