A judge in Burnet County, Texas threatened to put a defense lawyer for a Deaf client in jail for contempt of court because she refused to pay for an interpreter.

(This lawyer had to file for an extension because she had a scheduling conflict, but it was past the 24-hour time window for cancellations and the court ended up with the bill for a session that didn't happen).
