HOWARD: Hi, for this month's Ask Howard Anything, I'm standing in front of the U.S. Supreme Court! I'm here because for the first time in history, a group of 13 deaf lawyers will be sworn in. This means any of these 13 people can argue a case in the U.S. Supreme Court. It's a historical moment for us today because while there have been deaf lawyers that have been sworn in before -- there's never been a group as big as today. This is a pivotal moment for kids who perhaps will decide to be lawyers one day! I look forward to more deaf lawyers, that's for sure. This month is also a celebration of my fifth year as the NAD CEO. Time flew by! Since I arrived, we've had many accomplishments achieved by myself, the legal team, other NAD staff, NAD Board members, volunteers such as yourselves, and NAD members! With all of us working together, we can do so much more. An example includes the NAD winning the case against Netflix. That win impacted other video streaming companies to follow. We also successfully convinced the Department of Transportation to grant over 140 waivers to deaf and hard of hearing truck drivers. However, I hope someday soon, these drivers will get a CDL without needing a waiver. We still have work to do. Another area of growth is youth. Within five years, we've supported over 600 youth. It's impossible to list all of our accomplishments in one short video! I look forward to progress within the next five years. Many more accomplishments will happen with you supporting the NAD.
