Chris Haulmark shares his perspective on what happened few days ago, a murder-by-cop of Magdiel Sanchez, an innocent Oklahoma City Deaf man; on why police continue to kill, and what reforms he will do when in Congress.

Edit: It has been revealed after this video was made that Sanchez had a developmental disability, as well, adding to the cruelty of his murder.

Hello everyone!

I am Chris Haulmark, running for U.S. House of Representatives in Kansas’s Third Congressional District!

Today's talk is about an Oklahoma City Deaf man, named Magdiel Sanchez.

Okay…

What occurred a few nights ago is that, two police officers were called to a scene.

They were responding to a call involving a vehicle hit-and-run.

The police officers arrived and took note of a Deaf man's presence, Magdiel Sanchez.

Magdiel was on the porch, holding a two-foot-long metal pipe.

The pipe was used for protecting himself from stray dogs in the area.

As it was after 8:00 pm, it was apparently dark outdoors.

Those two police officers approached Magdiel with their weapons drawn.

One officer had a taser.

The other officer had a handgun.

Then what happened?

Magdiel, being the Deaf person he is, approached the police officers.

Both police officers fired their weapons.

The officer with the handgun fired repeatedly, killing Magdiel.

Unbelievable!

I'm now reading the news articles reporting that other people on the scene were screaming at the police officers that Magdiel was Deaf.

[pausing]

And one of us was murdered by the police.

Wow, that abuse of power really does scare me.

What if I was walking at night out there on the sidewalk, carrying my dark-colored smartphone?

Perhaps..

Who knows?

A police officer could be behind me, and decides to scream at me to stop walking away; to drop the weapon from my hand.

And I would not hear it...

The officer can just shoot and kill me.

Absolutely.

Why is it okay for police to shoot and kill?

Because of two US Supreme Court cases- links will be placed in the description for further reading- where the Court ruled that law enforcement officers have the right to shoot to kill to protect themselves if they feel their lives are threatened.

As a result, all across the country, we see police officers shooting and killing people with impunity.

Killing over innocent issues, yet these murdering officers get a free pass.

Why?

Because the Court's two rulings determined that, if a police officer felt threatened in his/her mind, regardless of actuality, the legal system cannot challenge that perception during a trial.

The requirement is to ask the homicidal officer if he/she felt threatened.

Then the killing officers would submit testimonies on why they felt threatened, leading to the decision to shoot for self-protection.

After Magdiel's killing, I deeply empathize for what America's Black communities have been suffering.

Blacks are all are scared of our law enforcement killers in today's time and age!

Why?!

That is not right! At all!

Law enforcement is supposed to help protect the public peace and serve all of us people.

Simple as that!

My condolences and thoughts are with Magdiel Sanchez’s family.

I look forward to when I am in Congress to create solutions for reducing law enforcement murderers' abilities to recklessly shoot and kill, provide resources for them undergo intensive psychology training to learn threat deescalation.

Yes, we will not be silent!
