Hello everyone!

This is Chris Haulmark, running for U.S. House of Representatives for Kansas’s Third Congressional District!

Today, I wish to discuss an important issue: undocumented children and their families residing here in the USA.

We enrolled about 800,000 children under the DACA program.

DACA is defined as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

The DACA program was established in 2012 by Obama administration.

The DACA program's goals are to ensure no federal deportation prosecutions and to provide work authorizations for enrollees.

Yes, the DACA program means that the qualified undocumented children and their peers can qualify for financial aid for colleges, be able to secure decent taxpaying jobs, and to open bank accounts.

These tools help DACA’s children-now-adults in contributing to our society.

It's wonderful!

Hold on, here's an update!

Right now, there is a huge risk that the Trump administration could remove the DACA program.

This is unacceptable.

There actually has been a debate before the Supreme Court.

The US Supreme Court ruled, 4-4, on whether DACA is unconstitutional or constitutional.

The U.S. Constitution states that only Congress has the power to establish laws, such as those governing immigration, among other topics.

However, former President Obama established an executive order as policy, with instructions on how immigration authorities are to execute their jobs.

Whew- what a mess!

[grinning]

So….

We really need the Congress to act on this non-existent law.

There are two lawmakers in the US Senate (that I am aware of) who took action during the last few months, proposing a bill known as DREAM Act.

The DREAM Act is the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act.

Yes, that’s what it’s called.

Those two lawmakers proposing the DREAM Act are Senator Dick Durbin and Senator Lindsey Graham.

Durbin is a Democrat while Graham is a Republican.

Durbin represents Illinois and Graham represents South Carolina.

Okay-

Both of those Senators proposed the DREAM Act, as we can see, it has not successfully passed into law, yet.

Many families with undocumented children here in the USA have no documents to legally remain- they are extremely concerned.

Hey!

Just so you’re aware, DACA protected immigrants cannot collect welfare and cannot claim unemployment benefits at all.

That mean DACA protected immigrants have been socially progressing, which is GREAT!

However, if DACA is removed, the devastation for those families would be a traumatizing experience!

To be deported back to other countries that are so completely foreign!

To places so completely unfamiliar!

Whew!

Understand that the agency overseeing the DREAMers, whom are the people covered by the DREAM Act, is the USCIS-

United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

The USCIS is adequately funded.

It is not running out of money, being self-sufficient with its own budget.

The USCIS seems to be operating along quite effectively.

How is that self-sufficiency possible?

Each undocumented individual must pay $495 bi-monthl-

No, correct that, biennially.

Yes, that’s correct.

These funds are able to continually support and work with DREAMers.

Let that sink in...

Right now, it is very important for all of us to take action in providing support for all organizations and politicians in support of DREAM and DACA.

So, in consideration, I will share information in the vlog description for viewers to know what we can do.

[GRINNING]

Let’s help out!
