Since the gospels was written at least 40 years after Jesus' death. Historians and psychologists recognize the potential that their memories could be changed through time or events or experiences. It is possible that the Gospel writers were relying on the distorted memories of Jesus.

It is important to understand the historical impact of Rome sacking and conquering the city of Jerusalem. The Herod's Great Temple was burned down the ground. Imagine the psychological trauma this would have on the Jews.

The gospels were written AFTER the destruction of Jewish Temple. Understanding this historical background will help us recognize that the gospels were written after the event.
