"It is Finished" — The Work Completed (John 19:30) "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost." (John 19:30) What was Finished? ✅ All Prophecies fulfilled (Luke 24:44) ✅ The payment for sin completed (Hebrews 9:12, 26) ✅ Satan defeated (Colossians 2:15) ✅ The Old Covenant fulfilled and ended (Romans 10:4 — "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness") ✅ Access to God now made available directly through Christ (Hebrews 10:19-20) Veil Torn in the Temple — The Way Opened (Matthew 27:50-51) "Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent." What was the Veil? The veil separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies (Exodus 26:31-33). Only the High Priest could pass once per year (Leviticus 16:2,34) to make atonement. What does the Tearing of the Veil mean? ✅ Access to God is now direct — no more human priests needed (Hebrews 4:16). ✅ The Levitical priesthood and sacrifices ended — Jesus, our High Priest, fulfilled them (Hebrews 10:11-12). ✅ God's presence is no longer hidden — it is revealed in Christ (Hebrews 10:19-22). ✅ From top to bottom — God Himself tore it, not man. Summary: "It is Finished" + "Veil Torn" = Salvation Completed Jesus' death paid the full price of sin. The tearing of the veil shows that access to God is open through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:18). The Old Covenant sacrifices are fulfilled and no longer necessary (Hebrews 9:11-14).
