Chad Ludwig: Hi, everyone! This vlog is for our interpreting community. This includes anyone ranging from educational interpreters to theatrical and performing arts interpreters -- interpreters from all walks of life. We even have some VRS call centers in Oregon. We want to include all “Sign Language Interpreters”. We are having an event on April 27, 2015 at the Capitol building in Salem. The address is 900 Court Street NE. We will be hosting a Legislative Awareness Day where we will come together as a community.

This event is not sponsored by the legislators or any other government groups. The legislators aren’t responsible for interpreting costs. We will have no funding to pay interpreters because this is a political event. We are the hosting this political event to invite many people to come together to rally, protest and share our stories in front of the Capitol building.

We will meet on the front steps of the Capitol and make our comments in front of everyone. This will be an all day event from 8:00am to 5:00pm. In the morning, we will have meeting rooms set up for our community members to go and meet with the legislators and explain why Senate Bill 449 is so important. Senate Bill 449 is intended to create an office for Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard of Hearing people with services.

It is very important that we have as many interpreters as possible at this event. You don’t need to stay there all day. Just an hour or two of your time will help the community and support them as they meet with their district representative, legislative representative, senate representative, or any other local area representatives. We will provide brochures and name tags for you to take to the meetings. Interpreters are needed to go with Deaf, Deaf-Blind, or Hard of Hearing people to meet with their representatives. We encourage you, if you don’t mind, to make some time in your schedule for this. If you’re interested in helping contact me via email, Link , and tell me how you can contribute. Thank you!
